Rube Goldberg Project
Description:
For this project, we had to build our own Rube Goldberg. For ours (Claire Bedford, Emery Hannum and I), our concluding step was to pop a balloon full of sprinkles and then the sprinkles land on cupcakes. Our exhibition is/was on 12/9/15. (That's tonight for when I am writing this) This is our Rube!

- What steps were most challenging to make work?
The most challenging step was getting the silver csr through the cone and making the tennis ball go forward to hit the other tennis ball. Originally, we didn’t have the dominoes at the bottom of the cone but we added them so that they would hit the ball. With the tennis ball hitting the second tennis ball, we had to go through trial and error to get the lever to work and actually get enough force to push the soccer ball off the table.
2. Demonstrate how you analyzed parts of your rube
To analyze our rube we found the velocity of the silver car(.034m/s) and the domino(.25m/s). Then we found the mass of them, and using that information we found the momentum of the domino hitting the silver car(4.8=1.3). We found the potential energy of the silver car(.0152). Then we found the kinetic energy of the car(.000023) We found the efficiency of our Rube Goldberg(.151). Lastly, we found the hang time(.4s), velocity(.014m/s), and horizontal distance from the table of the soccer ball(.0056).
3. How did you go about designing your rube?
We started with a sketch of our original idea to pop a balloon with sprinkles in it and have those sprinkles fall on the cupcakes. Most of our plan was kept the same although we did make just a few tweaks to have it all come together and work properly.
First Project
Description:
We had the question "Does abbreviating texts affect students writing?" We wanted to know this because we have noticed some errors in our writing at school as if we were texting. The produced outcome should have told us whether other people noticed the same thing we did or if they thought that texting made their writing skills worse.
Reflection:
I think I have grown the most in time management in the classroom and gathering and organizing data. I grew in time management because I always got my work done in class and stayed caught up. I also grew in gathering and organizing data because we had to go around the school and gather information from students and I organized that information in a spread sheet.
